KIMOTO FARM
The Beginnings of KIMOTO Farm
In 2008, when Chairman Kimoto visited the Mie Prefectural Government and the Inabe City Office, he learned about the depopulation issues facing Mie Prefecture and the increasing number of abandoned fields and vacant houses. This led him to start thinking about wanting to support Inabe City, the location of the company's production base.
After about two years of study and planning, the "KIMOTO Farm Project" was launched in 2011 as a social contribution initiative, starting with the support of employees.
This project consists of a "Farm Division" that cultivates rice, vegetables, and dahlias, and a "House Division" that utilizes vacant houses as accommodation facilities for employees.
The purpose of the "KIMOTO Farm Project" is to once again care for abandoned fields and vacant houses and revitalize the local community.
We continue our activities daily with the desire to be of service to the community, so that local people currently living in urban areas can return in the future and new residents will not face difficulties.
Rice
Minori Hyakunen Rice: Cultivation in Harmony with Nature
The rice paddies of KIMOTO Farm are located in the semi-mountainous region of Inabe City, Mie Prefecture.
In this land blessed with a large temperature difference between day and night and clear water, flavorful rice grows slowly and steadily.
We take over abandoned fields and restore them into rice paddies where rice can grow once again.
Through such efforts, we value staying close to the soil, protecting water, and dedicating careful attention.
Each and every one of these accumulated efforts becomes the power that safeguards the "peace of mind" at the dining table and the region's rich landscape.
"Minori Hyakunen Mai" has fully transitioned to cultivation according to the organic JAS certification standards from 2024.
From seedling preparation to harvest, we keep daily records and do not use any pesticides or chemical fertilizers during the cultivation period.
While valuing the power of the soil, the activity of microorganisms, and the cycle of living things, we continue our "low-stress cultivation" that aligns with the rhythm of nature.
Precious organic JAS-certified rice, which accounts for only 0.12% (Some fields)
Of the rice produced in Japan, only 0.12% holds organic JAS certification.
Although it is a cultivation method that requires both effort and time, KIMOTO FARM aims to produce rice that is gentle on both people and nature, and we are committed to organic farming in all our fields.
We put the nature of Inabe and our heartfelt thoughts into each and every grain.
We have obtained the Organic JAS "Organic Agricultural Products" certification.
In 2025, the Shiozaki field obtained the "Organic Agricultural Products" certification under the Organic JAS system.
In accordance with the system, we will label and ship our products as "Organic Agricultural Products in Conversion."
Note: "Organic Agricultural Products in Conversion" indicates the stage where organic management is continued while confirming compliance with the standards.

dahlia
The challenge of growing dahlias
Chairman Kimoto wondered if they could utilize the unmanaged farmland to further revitalize the local community. It was then that he encountered dahlias. He was deeply impressed by the beautiful dahlias of various colors and shapes cultivated by his friend, and he began to consider whether they could do the same in Mie Prefecture.
Mie PlantThe surrounding area is full of nature. This is where animal damage inevitably becomes a problem. Hearing from a dahlia grower that there is almost no damage to animals was the reason for taking on the challenge.
In 2017, we started trial cultivation of dahlias, and learned how to grow them, how to work with them, and how they are less susceptible to animal damage. In 2018, we increased the number of cultivation sites to two, and we have even displayed dahlias at the city hall and train station. In addition, from 2019, we opened a KIMOTO dahlia garden on the west side of theMie Plant No. 3 factory so that everyone in the neighborhood can enjoy it. Every year, the cultivation area is increasing, and the variety is increasing every year.
Our dream at KIMOTO is to fill Inabe City with dahlias!
