To all KIMOTO fans
In 2023, we look forward to your continued support.
It has been three years since the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) began. Looking back at past pandemics, it feels like we are about to move into a new phase and start the post-COVID-19 era.
The events in information exchange that were affected by COVID-19 for our company are,
1) Increased work communication
The use of remote meetings has more than tripled the number of participants in important meetings.
Additionally, the frequency of meetings with overseas partners has also increased.
The need for business trips has been reduced by more than half.
2) There has been a dramatic decrease in casual conversation outside of work
While remote meetings and conferences have increased, casual conversations and unexpected topics have decreased, making it harder for spontaneous ideas to emerge and for employees, customers, and business partners to get to know each other deeply.
Additionally, new challenges have emerged in maintaining psychological health.
To address this, we have begun considering face-to-face meetings to allow for more human interaction.
3) The concept of regions (worldwide) has significantly diminished.
Remote work has become the norm, drastically reducing the need to travel to locations.
Remote participation in on-site testing by developers has increased, reducing the need to visit factories in person.
Opportunities to work with a global perspective, rather than just by country, have increased.
Meetings and communications in multilingual environments have started to use automatic translation for conversations and documents, allowing everyone to work without language barriers, even if they don't speak English, Chinese, German, Japanese, etc.
There are many other changes besides the above, but in 2023 we will proceed with each event more effectively.
