2021 New Rice "Harvest Hyakunenmai"
This year, we cultivated in parts of the Shiozaki area, Shobu Waki area, Tanabe area, and Mukodaira area, and the harvest amounted to 244 bales of 'Minori no Hyakunenmai' rice.
Due to factors such as fallow areas, insufficient sunlight caused by continuous rain in August, and damage from animals like deer and monkeys, unfortunately, the harvest volume has decreased compared to last year.
About taste value
The taste score measures the content of four components in rice—amylose, protein, moisture, and fatty acids—to comprehensively evaluate its deliciousness.
Rice is evaluated on a 100-point scale, and it is said that rice scoring 70 points or higher is considered delicious by 70–80% of people. 'Minori no Hyakunen Mai' has been measuring its taste score since cultivation began in 2011, continuously improving, and in recent years has consistently achieved high scores of 85 points or more. Typically, harvesting and drying by plot is uncommon, but at Kimoto Farm, driven by the desire to deliver even tastier rice, they harvest and dry by plot and measure the taste score. In 2021, the highest taste score for 'Minori no Hyakunen Mai' measured by plot reached 87 points.
On the Minori no Hyakunen Rice Sales Site, customers can view the taste value from the cultivation area map and choose and purchase their preferred plot or type.
About Kimoto Farm Here
We will be selling Buzuki rice from 2021.
‘Buzuki rice’ is rice that has been milled to leave the germ and bran parts from the brown rice during the milling process.
By lowering the degree of milling and leaving the germ and bran, it becomes rice with high nutritional value, rich in calcium, vitamins, dietary fiber, and minerals.
In recent years, brown rice has been attracting attention as a health food, but some people may find it difficult to eat due to its unique texture.
For those people, we recommend Buzuki rice, which is easier to eat than brown rice and also has high nutritional value.
3 months Rice with about 30% of the bran removed, leaving the germ intact. It is slightly softer than brown rice because a little of the husk has been removed.
5 months Rice with about half of the bran removed and most of the germ remaining. The nutritional value is a good balance between brown rice and white rice.
7 months Rice with about 70% of the bran removed and part of the germ remaining. It is close to white rice and easy to eat, so it is recommended for beginners.
