A case study on visualizing underground waterways using a crawler robot from Eight Japan Technology Development Co., Ltd. combined with SPLAT TWIN was featured in the July 1, 2026 issue of the Nikkan Kensetsu Kogyo Shimbun.
The article introduces an initiative that combines Eight Japan Technology Development's crawler robot with Gaussian splatting technology to visualize narrow, dark underground waterways as high-definition 3D spaces.
This makes it easier to grasp the current conditions and spatial relationships inside the waterways as realistic, photo-like spaces, and future applications in the maintenance and management of underground structures are anticipated.
This initiative is a collaboration between three companies: Eight Japan Technology Development's Fano Veitra Lab, KOO Co., Ltd., and KIMOTO, advancing technology development, on-site data acquisition, and 3D spatial data creation.
