Auditor Interview Junichiro Haraguchi
Please tell us about the activities of Auditorand what you keep in mind when conducting audits.
As an outside Auditor, my primary duty is to participate in the Board of Directors meetings and audit whether operations are being conducted appropriately.
Having experience in financial accounting work, I am always conscious of whether matters related to figures, such as financial statements, are being processed correctly in accordance with accounting principles and tax laws, and I strive to actively voice this at board meetings.
Therefore, regarding the materials submitted by the company, although it takes time, I make an effort to review all of them and verify their contents.
In addition, in order to get a better understanding of the company, we visitMie PlantandIbaraki Plantevery year to see the site and talk to the employees who work there.
AuditorHow did you feel when you were told that you would be inaugurated?
When I heard about the opportunity, I felt a connection.
As a shareholder of KIMOTO, I have been working with Tokyo SME Investment and Development, to which I belong, for many years, and for six years from 1999, I often visited the former head office in Shinjuku 3-chome as a person in charge. When I heard from former President Maruyama at the time that he was looking for a candidate for an externalAuditor, I thought that we could help him, so I connected him to human resources, and the person we recommended was decided to be an externalAuditor. Remembering such a background, I felt a strong connection and thought that it was a Thailand story.
What do you think is the image of KIMOTO and what do you think are its strengths?
I strongly feel that everyone, including President Kimoto Mr./Ms., has a desire to change Thailand company. I think it is a company that is always trying new things and trying to keep changing.
I was also very surprised to hear that President Kimoto meets with all KIMOTO employees once a year. When I was the head of the Human Resources Department, I had the experience of interviewing all of the employees of less than 100 employees over several months, so I know how difficult it is. It is rare for a company to have a president who meets with all of its employees every year, which is less than 500. I think that the fact that President Kimoto knows each and every employee well is one of KIMOTO's strengths.
Please tell us about your future challenges and expectations for KIMOTO
With the appointment of new directors at this shareholders' meeting, I believe the company's transformation will accelerate. I am looking forward to seeing how things will change.
To bring about positive change, it is essential not only for the new directors but also for those around them to cooperate. I hope that everyone will help foster an atmosphere where people come together to support and energize the company's transformation.
How would you like to carry out activities in Thailand for the remainder of your term?
This year, due to the impact of COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus), it is difficult to visit factories, so I would like to ask Auditor Suzuki to arrange opportunities for web meetings with employees. At a time when not only KIMOTO but the world as a whole is undergoing significant change, I want to approach the Board of Directors meetings with an understanding of how our employees are thinking and working.
