KIMOTO Workflow Reform vol.26-1
Striving to Become a 100-Year-Old Enterprise, We are Advancing Workflow Reform.
Work Style Reform in Development to Quadruple New Product Output
We will explain the development work style reform "JX (Job Transformation)" in two parts.
Why are "companies with fast development" so strong?
It is about whether we can deliver new products to the world at the required timing.
This is a significant competitive advantage for manufacturing companies like KIMOTO.
However, focusing solely on speed can lead to increased rework or impact quality.
Quickly, but surely.
How to achieve this balance has been a long-standing challenge in development sites.
Do not shoulder it alone. Move towards team-based development.
In past development, a single person in charge would,
Think about what to make.
To design
To experiment
Summarize the results
I was responsible for many processes.
The more experienced a person is, the more they are relied upon, the busier they become, and the harder it is for them to work on new themes simultaneously.
It is also true that such situations were prone to occur.
This led to the launch of "JX," an initiative to review our development approach.
Under JX, we view development as a flow. We are changing our approach by separating roles—such as the thinking role, the role of advancing experiments, and the role of providing support based on experience—and connecting them as a team.
We are not only changing the "mechanism" but also improving the "environment."
To establish this approach, it is essential to have not only the mindset but also an environment where we can actually take action.
At KIMOTO, we have been working to establish a system that consolidates development and experimental equipment on the factory side, enabling smooth experimentation near the production site.
This also had the aim of incorporating production site know-how into the experimental stages of development.
With the place and equipment in place, role-divided development has become easier to implement.
However, on the other hand, having the place and equipment in place has also revealed some challenges.
In the next part, we will introduce what challenges have emerged from actually advancing this JX,
what results it has started to lead to,
and how KIMOTO is trying to utilize initiatives such as data, AI, and automation in development.
