Striving to Become a 100-Year-Old Enterprise, We are Advancing Workflow Reform.
The Reason Why I Can Balance Work Even Though I'm Not a Workaholic
We will share the working style of employees who balance childcare and work with the help of workflow reform.
Can I balance work and childcare?
Five years after returning to work, I have been balancing childcare and work with the help of workflow reform. Currently, I am in my 23rd year with the company, working a six-hour shortened workday while raising a six-year-old child.
I was not the type to handle work efficiently, nor was I good at housework, so I was worried before returning to work about whether I could continue working while raising a child.
At that time, a satellite office was established in Tachikawa near my home. By using it as a base, I thought I could shorten my commute time and have more mental leeway to balance childcare and work.
Work in a way that suits your lifestyle
I worked at a satellite office for about three years, and now my work style has shifted to being primarily remote. My friends wonder, 'How do you even work from home!?' but by also utilizing super flex time, I handle nursery school errands in the morning before starting work, or finish work early to take my child to the doctor, adapting my work to the situation.
Before giving birth, my daily routine involved commuting to work at a set time in the morning and returning home after sunset. But now, I find myself pedaling my bike towards the setting sun!! Next year, my child will start elementary school. A new and unfamiliar lifestyle awaits, different from daycare. By utilizing free seating and super flex time, I aim to balance work and parenting, continue working for the long haul, and strive for retirement!! (Haha)
