KIMOTO Workflow Reform vol.23
Striving to Become a 100-Year-Old Enterprise, We are Advancing Workflow Reform.
No problem even if you don't have an office?!
We will inform you about the closure of the Shinjuku office, which was KIMOTO's main office.
The main office has been closed.
At the end of December 2020, KIMOTO closed the Shinjuku office, which was the main office, aiming for a work style that is not tied to a specific location.
You might wonder if KIMOTO is okay with closing the main office?! But for the employees working at the Shinjuku office, it was like, 'Even without an office, we won't have trouble working...'.
For the closure, members from each department were assigned, and these members took the lead in preparing from October.
What you really need
Due to the workflow reforms over the past 10 years, the continuation of remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the experience of moving the Shinjuku office in 2013 and closing satellite offices, it was thought that the closure would proceed smoothly.
However, since this was the main office, there were many important documents, catalogs, and supplies accumulated over 8 years, and there were limited spaces to accommodate them at the Saitama headquarters, so we were forced to make various choices.
Even if we don't have trouble working, we realized that having an office allowed us to place things there, and we were working with a 'thing-based' mindset.
With the closure of the main office, which was our foundation, we are finally moving towards a work style that truly does not assume the presence of an office, prompting us to reconsider what we really need for our work and how we manage things.
Towards a work style that does not assume the presence of an office
It has been a year since the Shinjuku office was closed. Thanks to the results of our previous workflow reforms, we have continued our operations without confusion, but there is still room for improvement and innovation in how we handle mail, deliveries, and important documents.
Regardless of the work, we will continue to encourage employees to think for themselves and advance further reforms so that we can truly work in a location-free manner.
